Fair Thee Well...

Tis with a twinge of sadness that I finish this blog. I'm not disappearing all together, just switching over to Live Journal which opens up a few more options than what is curretly available with blogspot. But, I do want to keep this blog online, probably more for myself than anyone who happened to come wondering by and actually read it. Almost a year and a half of memories/crap archived here, admittedly, during some of the worst times of my life, and while I didn't exactly go into much detail here for personal reasons, looking back, at least here I can find some insight into that time.

I want to thank everyone who has come here and read what I had to say. A fair few of you I know and cherish, others...well, thankyou for your replies and your time.

My new home can be found here, if you want to pop in to say howdy.

Save The Seals

The annual slaughter of seals in Canada began a week ago. During last year's 'hunt' over 350,000 seals were killed. This hunt is absolutely barbaric, simple as that. I'm asking that you take a few moments to check out these sites and help where you can:

Sign the pledge to boycott Canadian seafood products

Write to the Canadian Prime Minister in support of ending the slaughter

Both these campains are run by The Humane Society which I have been in support of for a number of years.

There is more information on the situation at Sea Shepherd and Harpseals.org *Warning* (This site contains some pretty graphic images so be careful around little ones)

As with most causes like this, it is again left up to the people to inform, educate and spread the word, in the hopes of ending the senseless slaughter of these beautiful creatures.

Catch Me Up If You Can

(Promises to never again use a Leonardo DiCaprio film as a reference)... Anyways, been quite busy this last week finishing up assignments and all. Why is it, assignments are done by the second last week of term, then they use the last week introducing the new topic which will be taught after the holidays? What's the point? I will have totally forgotten everything by then anyway. Oh well, 3 days left...(or two considering I've finished classes for today (woohoo!) )

Went up to Bribie Island on the weekend mainly so Damo could get some time on the road, and to stave off boredom, and brought my camera thinking I'd get some nice shots. I haven't been to Bribie for about 4-5 years, I forgot how...there's nothing there...the beach wasn't too bad, although it was overcast and quite windy so I decided to forego a dip in the ocean and snaps some pics of the beach:

Because I'm an extremely immature individual:
Pity on both accounts :P

The overcast beach:

The sun deciding to come out 10 minutes before we left:

The walkway down to the beach:

Me making it look more brooding, more moody...I'm such a tit:

Anyway, that afternoon we get home, and next thing you know, there's an accident out on the road. Luckily no one was hurt, but a young couple were left standing out in the heat to wait for the RACQ to arrive. The woman was pregnant and had a small child, so we invited her in out of the heat and chatted for a few hours until the tow truck showed up. She was very nice and I hope their car was sorted out right.

Sunday, I went down to my local park to take more pics of the flora and fauna. I haven't been there in a while, the place is a tad creepy, plus with all the attacks on the bikeways going on at the moment around here, I didn't exactly want to venture down there on my own. It reminds me of some old decrepit playground from a horror film, just waiting for some children in salior outfits and well groomed hair to appear from behind a tree and start chanting or something...my photos came out extremely well, my favourites of which were this one of a rusted children's bike lying at the bottom of the creek:

And this bikeway sign, which I cannot figure out how it got so dirty seeing as it's so high off the ground...:

Last night my step father tried his hand at a little stand up comedy. If anyone was at the Newmarket hotel, he was the guy on first who sounded like a cross between Shannon Noll and Elmur Fudd on speed. It didn't go down as bad as I thought, but all the same, the evening was enjoyable despite the massive headache I got from the loud speakers...

More fandom stuff to post:

And I haven't made animated ones in a while so:

The Most Fun I've Had In The Back Seat...

Now that I have your attention...

When we were kids, especially on long car trips, instead of rattling off the tedious "Are we there yets" and "I gotta go to the bathrooms" and bugging the hell out of our parents...it was more fun to mess with other drivers. It started with the wave, waving at people in cars that we were overtaking, that were overtaking us or stuck behind us at a set of lights (the poor souls), and seeing how many people waved back. Then, as we grew older, and the maturity gene skipped us entirely, the hand motions changed to that of a big rig honking it's horn. Granted it was a rare and sacred occurrence for truckies to comply seeing as it's illegal to honk for no good reason...(there is a story involving a bridge in northern NSW, a t-shirt and one too many Jack Daniel's, but no need to go there...:P), anyway, tonight in tried and true fashion, there we were again at a set of lights with nothing to entertain ourselves for the 1-2 minutes it takes for the light to turn green. The guy in the car to our left I noticed has a decidedly pinched look on his face, one you would get from having a bug up your ass or listening to an entire Nikki Webster album *shudder*, anyway, I dare my (male) friend to make kissy faces at the guy when the light turns green, a dare he was more than willing to adhere to (I worry sometimes :P). The light turns green and he makes the kissy faces at the guy who stares for about 2.34 seconds before his eyes are back on the road and he's driving ahead. Before we hit the next set of lights, we all decided to face him and imitate head bangers, ala Wayne's World, and manage to drive past his car twice before we hit the lights. Was that the beginnings of a smile I saw? From then on he was too far ahead of us to do anymore, but just before we got to the third set of lights, he noticed we were still clowning around trying to get a reaction, he shook his head and appeared to chuckle slightly as he turned left before the lights, driving off into the setting sun...mission accomplished. :P

...Then we had to push our luck too far and waved at a woman behind us at the lights. She scowled. Guess it's not cute when you're older...*shrug* lol!

The Wonderful World Of...Meh

Why do fan fic authors have to give their work a rating when published books are not rated? [/random]

And curiosity got the better of me: Why do men have nipples?

I have finished the majority of work for this term, I can't wait until it's over. I need to get away from monotony.

I want to do some photography, I have been using myself, but I am a limited model at best...Took some pics of roses though, and turned them into icons...which I'm too lazy to publish.

Been listening to alot of Within Temptation lately, great stuff.

...I am tired, I think I will go back to bed...
